Colon Cancer

Colorectal (colon) cancer is currently the third most diagnosed and #2 cancer-killer in the U.S. More than 147,000 Americans will be diagnosed this year and 56,000 will die. However, this disease is PREVENTABLE and 90% of the time curable when caught early.

What can you do to avoid becoming a colon cancer statistic?

Get a screening colonoscopy.
This painless, 30 minute, easy-to-prepare for test is performed right here in our Endoscopy center by our physicians. Using the fast-acting anesthesia Propofol, they will examine your colon for the presence of polyps and remove them as needed. The American Cancer Society guidelines now say anyone 50 years of age or older, should be screened. In fact, more than 90% of colon cancers are diagnosed in people over 50 and most show NO symptoms of the disease. However, if you have a family history of colon cancer, colorectal polyps or inflammatory bowel disease, earlier screening may be needed. Talk to your primary care physician and ask about a referral to our office for this test. We’ll call your health insurance company and get the information you’ll need for your consultation and procedure.

If you have any questions about colon cancer, the screening colonoscopy exam or wish to make an appointment to see our physicians, please call our office at (817) 293-9292. We’re here Monday through Friday, 8AM until 4PM.
