What can you do to avoid becoming a colon cancer statistic?
Get a screening colonoscopy.
This painless, 30 minute, easy-to-prepare for test is performed right here in our Endoscopy center by our physicians. Using the fast-acting anesthesia Propofol, they will examine your colon for the presence of polyps and remove them as needed. The American Cancer Society guidelines now say anyone 50 years of age or older, should be screened. In fact, more than 90% of colon cancers are diagnosed in people over 50 and most show NO symptoms of the disease. However, if you have a family history of colon cancer, colorectal polyps or inflammatory bowel disease, earlier screening may be needed.
